Hi, I'm Emily, but my students at Carrboro High know me as Ms. G. I moved from NYC to North Carolina in August 2020 with the goal of becoming a Special Education teacher. Although this was quite the departure from my 15-year career as a fashion designer, my volunteer work with Reading Partners in NYC inspired this change, igniting a new passion for making education accessible to diverse learners.

While pursuing a MAT program at Meredith College, my path took an unexpected yet fulfilling turn. In 2021, I became the CTE Apparel Design teacher at Carrboro High School. This role allowed me to combine my expertise in fashion design with my coursework in Special Education, creating a classroom environment that fosters creativity and project-based learning.

Over the past three years at Carrboro High, I've discovered that hands-on, creative projects are crucial for student success by building confidence and problem-solving skills through practical experience. Teaching has reignited my passion for fashion, and I'm excited to share this enthusiasm with the next generation of designers through my fashion and creative crafty classes for kids, teens, and adults!
